100 selected contemporary artists featured in a prestigious, ISBN-registered art album

In 2026, A.P. Art Gallery is launching its open art call for the first time, inviting artists to participate in the contemporary art annual APART GALLERY ANNUAL 2026.

The publication aims to present the diverse artistic approaches, techniques, and visual languages of today's art scene through a professionally curated selection of contemporary artworks.

We welcome applications from painters, graphic artists, sculptors, photographers, digital and intermedia artists, as well as artists working in performance, music, dance, and other fields of contemporary art. – A Cross-Disciplinary Art Album (the shared visual voice of our exhibitions)

A total of 100 artists will be selected for inclusion in the publication by a professional jury.

THE CONCEPT OF THE PUBLICATION 

APART GALLERY ANNUAL 2026 is not simply an art catalogue, but the first volume of an annual series of curated contemporary art publications.

Publication formats:

• Online catalogue – ANNUAL 2026 (freely accessible to everyone)
• Printed book

The publication aims to showcase artists whose work reflects, in diverse ways, on the visual culture of our time.

We are not looking for a single thematic direction.

On the contrary, our goal is to present the diversity of contemporary art.

Therefore, in the selection process, we consider not only genre and thematic aspects, but also, among other criteria, the independence of the artist's creative thinking, the visual quality of the works, their consistency, and their relevance to contemporary art.

WHAT DOES THE SELECTED ARTIST RECEIVE?  

Each selected artist will be featured across two full pages in the printed art book.

Page 1 – The Artwork

• professional reproduction of one artwork / performance / musical work
• title of the work
• year of creation
• medium / technique
• dimensions

Page 2 – The Artist

• artist's name
• short professional biography
• artist statement / artistic philosophy
• professional information
• website and/or social media links
• QR code providing direct access to the artist's online presence

All artist features will be created according to a consistent, professional editorial and graphic design concept.

1. Exclusive online catalogue:
Access to the digital, flip-through version of the publication, which can also be used as a professional reference on the artist's own communication channels and online platforms.

2. Discounted printed book:
The opportunity to order a physical copy of the art book at a special discounted price exclusively available to participating artists.

THE PUBLICATION

APART GALLERY ANNUAL 2026

Planned specifications:

• premium art book
• curatorial introduction and professional essay
• square format, approximately 240 × 240 mm
• approximately 210–230 pages
• full-colour printing
• softcover
• high-quality art paper
• ISBN-registered publication
• bilingual: Hungarian and English

The artists will be presented in alphabetical order, ensuring a consistent and objective structure throughout the publication.

PROFESSIONAL SELECTION

Submitting an application does not guarantee inclusion in the publication.

All submitted applications will be evaluated according to professional artistic criteria.

The key selection criteria include:

• independence and originality of the artist's creative thinking;
• visual and technical quality of the works;
• a coherent and recognisable artistic identity;
• contemporary relevance;
• professional standards and artistic quality;
• the uniqueness and expressive power of the submitted work.

Our aim is to select 100 artists who, together, form a diverse and high-quality selection of contemporary art.

If, in the jury's assessment, the required professional standard cannot be achieved with 100 applicants, the organiser reserves the right to select fewer artists.

APPLICATION

Requirements for application:

1. 1 portrait photograph: max. 1500 × 2000 px (or a proportionally equivalent size), 300 DPI, JPG format (max. 4 MB)

1. Fine art, photography, design and applied arts:

• 1 premium-quality artwork photograph: max. 2400 × 2400 px (or a proportionally equivalent rectangular format), 300 DPI, JPG format (max. 4 MB)

2. Basic information about the artwork:

• title
• technique
• dimensions
• year of creation

3. Performing arts (theatre, dance, performance, etc.):

• 1 professional artistic photograph: of the performer or production, max. 2400 × 2400 px (or a proportionally equivalent rectangular format), 300 DPI, JPG format (max. 4 MB)
• 1 visual element: album cover, visual identity element, or an artistic photograph specifically taken during the performance/concert, max. 2400 × 2400 px (or a proportionally equivalent rectangular format), 300 DPI, JPG format (max. 4 MB)
  
  

The jury will consider the application as a whole when making its final decision.

APPLICATION FEE

Submitting an application and the curatorial evaluation process are completely free of charge.

PUBLICATION

The publication fee is payable exclusively by artists selected by the professional jury.

In case of selection:

Publication fee: HUF 69,900 (10% discount for artists represented by our gallery)

The publication fee includes:

• a two-page feature in the APART GALLERY ANNUAL 2026 publication;
• editorial preparation of the artist's information;
• editorial preparation of the artist biography and artist statement;
• professional graphic design and layout;
• official inclusion in the publication;
• inclusion in an ISBN-registered art publication;
• the opportunity to be featured online across Apart Gallery's communication platforms;
• collective presentation of all artists included in the publication.

The printed book copy is not included in the publication fee.

Following publication, the completed book will be available for separate purchase through Apart Gallery's online platform.

Selected artists will be offered the opportunity to purchase printed copies at a discounted price.

WHY SHOULD YOU APPLY?

The aim of APART GALLERY ANNUAL 2026 is to create a lasting artistic record that can serve as a professional reference for years to come.

The publication:

• professionally documents the work of 100 outstanding contemporary artists;
• preserves the 2026 contemporary art selection in a physical format;
• can be presented to galleries, curators, collectors, and art professionals;
• will also be available to participating artists in an exclusive, online, flip-through format, which can be used as a professional reference on their own communication channels and online platforms;
• is intended to be the first volume of an annual publication series planned by Apart Gallery.

IMPORTANT

Submitting an application does not in itself guarantee inclusion in the publication.

Inclusion is the result of a professional selection process.

The publication fee is payable only by artists who are selected.

During the evaluation process, rather than focusing primarily on the artist as an individual, we assess the professional quality of the submitted work and the artist's creative thinking.

KEY DATES

Open Call Launch: September 1, 2026

Application Deadline: December 31, 2026

Jury Evaluation: ongoing, within 3–5 days of receiving the application

Publication Fee Payment: in case of a successful application, within 2 days of receiving the notification

Approval: The artist will receive the planned two-page feature by email for review. One round of corrections/approval is included, with a 48-hour deadline for confirming the accuracy of the information and approving the final presentation.

Planned Publication Date: January–February 2027
